Open Cloud Compute

is a DPI for AI.

Just like energy sources, compute resources come in diverse forms. Over the next few years, demand for compute will go up due to increased digitalization and AI, and the global cloud compute market is expected to triple in size.

Through OCC, we are taking a DPI approach to unlocking access to compute at scale.

We encourage product and service providers who have offerings in this compute stack to join the mission and architect a compute ecosystem that is more competitive for India.

The Hackathon @

The OCC team hosted its first Hackathon in partnership with PES University, Electronic City Campus.

With a goal to make compute more accessible and sustainable to students, the OCC interface was presented to students- allowing them to find the right resources for their use case in a single click.

The hackathon saw 60 students participating and developing innovative solutions in the Natural Language, Computer Vision and Data Analytics  streams. The students were excited to use our partners- Vigyanlabs and Jarvislabs’ compute to realise their ideas and envision big picture solutions.

Top Use Cases

Here are the top use cases from the Hackathon

AI-Powered Criminal Description and Image Generation from Eyewitness

Diagram to Code- for AWS Architecture Diagrams to Cloud Formations using LLMs

Exploring Ancient Civilisations Using RAG

American ASL detector using Computer Vision

Drone Controlled Disaster Recovery

LLM-OS: Agentic Workflows

Manimator: 3Blue1Brown style mathematical animations using Agentic RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) Pipeline

Meet the Team

Why Open Cloud Compute?

Just like an organisation needs electricity, water, internet services to function effectively, compute is becoming that fourth essential utility.

The AI boom is shaping the compute market. In India, we will be building & using a lot more AI, and compute is the foundation that will help this industry thrive.

Our data centre infrastructure is insufficient for our talent pool and ambitions. We stand on the brink of a transformation and we have to capitalise on this pivotal moment.

One size does not fit all in India. Diving into the AI revolution, customers and producers are savouring its flavours in diverse, mobile, and edge-citing ways.

This is a global movement - while many have pondered, we pioneer. At EkStep and people+ai, we're redefining public good without boundaries, unmatched in our execution and open to the world.

People+ai is an EkStep Foundation initiative. Our work is designed around the belief that technology, especially ai, will cause paradigm shifts that can help India & its people reach their potential.
